About Us

Stories from every coastline.

Surfer.Gay is a community-driven digital magazine and gathering place for queer surfers and our allies.

It is a platform shaped by the people within our community: the stories we share, the places we explore, the people we meet, and the connections we build in and out of the water. Together, we publish travel features, interviews, cultural stories, and dispatches from coastlines around the world.

Through our interactive map, member introductions, and direct messaging, surfers can discover queer-friendly surf spots, connect with local communities, plan trips, paddle out together, and build lasting friendships wherever they go.

Surfer.Gay is for everyone—from beginners catching their first whitewater to experienced surfers searching for remote breaks. Whether you are looking for people to surf with, planning your next adventure, contributing a story, or simply looking for experiences that reflect your own, this is a place where you can belong and participate.

The magazine was started by Patrick Olsen and continues to grow through contributions from photographers, writers, surfers, travellers, and community members. It is not the work of one person, but an evolving collaboration created by all of us.

What began as a desire for something more meaningful than another social media feed is becoming a living archive of queer surf culture—built one story, one wave, and one connection at a time.

Welcome to surfer.gay. This is created by us, for us. Read it, share it, contribute, connect—and come surf.
